While generational differences have always existed, they are wider today than ever before. They create challenges for healthcare professionals both in management and direct care. Key areas impacted include communication, motivation, learning, recruitment, and retention of “team members” which includes colleagues and clients/families Healthcare is particularly impacted by generational issues as there is a wide range of generations among health care providers as well as patients/clients.
